Midwestern Cattle Management

BUYERS

Buyers who purchase cattle through Midwestern Cattle Marketing, LLC (MCM) have the opportunity to view, evaluate, and select country fresh cattle from an inventory of thousands of head from across the country from the convenience of their office or home. MCM’s Video Auctions and eCowAuctions use the most accurate form of price discovery available—competitive bidding.

Buyers can be confident that the cattle they see in our videos (for Video Auctions) or photos (for eCowAuctions) are exactly what will be delivered, and that MCM’s Field Representatives will be available to answer any questions they may have throughout the entire process.

Private Treaty Sales(Country Listings)

Private Treaty Sales

Our Private Treaty transactions provide buyers another avenue to purchase cattle from producers who prefer to market their cattle directly, without using a Video or Internet process. We draw on the relationships we’ve established during our years in the industry to match producers and buyers to facilitate transactions.

Buyers interested in this type of transaction should contact Jason O'Connell at 308.249.5114, and provide us with a description of the cattle you would like to purchase. We will alert our Field Representatives to look for available cattle fitting your description. Take advantage of the thousands of relationships we have built to find what you need!

Video Auctions

Buyers MCM’s Video Auction services are a partnership between MCM—which locates the cattle, interfaces with producers, and handles payments—and Western Video Market (WVM), which hires the auctioneers, sets the dates and locations, and broadcasts the auction on the day of the sale. By combining the expertise and skills of employees from each of these companies, this partnership is strong and effective.

Video Auctions are a well-established marketing mechanism growing in popularity because of the economic advantages and ability to market a large number of stocker/feeder cattle.

Fifty percent of the auctions are physically conducted at Shasta Livestock Auction Yard in Cottonwood, California. The other 50 percent are conducted at locations throughout the West and Midwest. Large screen TV monitors are set up for livestock viewing, providing producers and buyers an experience that is very close to being in the pasture with the cattle! Buyers are able to bid on location or by calling into a bank of telephones manned to take "live" call-in bids. Our auctions take place in a fast-paced environment with a nationwide bidding audience.

Getting Started

Interested buyers must either register to bid with WVM, or request a sales catalog from WVM. To register, simply fill out the online application form. Potential buyers must also agree to the Terms and Conditions for this contract. Once you register, you will receive a buyer number via telephone or e-mail. You will use this buyer number to bid in auctions.

Registration is not needed to view the inventory for upcoming Video Auctions. You may also request that a catalog be mailed to your home address.

MCM is happy to answer questions regarding the registration and contract process. Questions about the auction process itself should be directed to WVM, which can be reached by phone at 530.347.3793, via e-mail at , or through their web site, at www.wvmcattle.com.

Viewing an Auction

A Video Auction is conducted just like a traditional live auction, except that buyers view livestock via Dish Network, Channel 219, or live streaming video on the Internet.

Auctions will continue to be available on C-Band satellite dishes (the big ones). Visit the WVM web site to find directions to the C-Band satellite.

NOTE: Buyers should be aware that the Dish Network broadcast may lag three to five seconds behind the real time of the sale. If you plan to bid by watching the auction on Dish Network, please turn down the volume of the Dish transmission, and listen to the sale over a telephone.

With a broadband Internet connection, you can view and listen to auction broadcasts on the Internet in nearly real time. Visit the WVM web site for details on our Internet live streaming video.

See our Video Auction Schedule for dates of upcoming auctions.

Bidding

You may bid on location at the auction, or by phone the day of the sale.

NOTE: The phone number is different for each auction, based on location, and is printed in the Western Video Market sales catalog. It is also advertised on the Western Video Market home page.

Payment

Forty dollars ($40.00) per head partial payment is due the date of purchase. If you are bidding remotely, a sales/purchase contract will be faxed to you for signature; payment must be submitted within 24 hours.

Upon shipment of the cattle, payment is expected as follows:

  • If the buyer is present at delivery, full payment must be received at delivery.
  • If the buyer is not present at delivery, full payment must be received no later than the following business day.
  • Under no condition shall payment be made later than 24 hours after delivery of livestock.
  • The buyer can wire funds or overnight them to MCM’s bank.

Internet Auctions

eCowAuctions

Our Internet Auction web site, eCowAuctions, enables buyers to bid at their convenience during an extended bidding window. MCM’s process is unique among Internet cattle auctions, as our competitors’ events are often characterized by poor weather conditions or poor quality video on sale day. We provide high quality photos of cattle in their natural environment, rather than streaming video transmitted from outdoor locations.

eCowAuctions happen at a slower pace than Video Auctions. High quality photos are posted for buyers to view, with the assurance that what they see is what they will get! Buyers may even choose to visit the cattle on location during the time of the auction.

eCowAuctions are ideal for breeding stock, and allow buyers to bid anytime, day or night, from the comfort of their office or home.

Getting Started

Interested buyers must register with our partner site, www.eCowAuctions.com, to bid in eCowAuctions. To register, simply fill out the online application form. NOTE: This is a secure online environment! The information is encrypted, so it cannot be intercepted. And, we will never share your contact information. Potential buyers must also review and accept the Terms and Conditions for this contract. When you register, you will be sent a confirmation via e-mail. Once you follow the steps in the e-mail to confirm your registration, you will be eligible to bid. Registration is not required to view the inventory for current auctions.

Viewing and Bidding

Once you have registered, you can access the auctions via the web site at www.eCowAuctions.com. You will have the option to view current auctions, preview auctions, or view auction results. Use the www.eCowAuctions.com web site navigation to initiate the bidding process and finalize your transaction.
